Supporting the Bereaved: Getting the Right Affect & Effect
Time & Location
About The Event
Presented by Ronald Oliver, Norton Healthcare
Sometimes it’s hard to know how to help. When a friend or family member is grieving the loss of a loved one, it can be particularly hard for a supporter to know what to do. This interactive program will focus on practical approaches supporters can use to help the bereaved and will also highlight what not to do.
Ronald Oliver, PhD, MBA, BCC serves as the System Vice President, Mission & Outreach for Norton Healthcare. Prior to that role, for nine years he was staff chaplain for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Norton Children’s Hospital where he started the still on-going Bereavement Intervention Program. This initiative helps friends and family of bereaved parents be a more effective support network. Dr. Oliver’s research has focused on the impact the traumatic death of a child has on parents’ belief structures. Dr. Oliver has published several peer reviewed articles and has been a national speaker on bereavement related topics.
