About The Event

Presented by Before I Die Festival and Westminister John Knox Press in collaboration with Farm to Fork.

Join author Lori Erickson at Farm to Fork café as she discusses her latest book of spiritual travels, Near the Exit: Travels with the Not-So-Grim Reaper. After her brother’s unexpected death and her mother moved into memory care, spiritual travel writer Lori Erickson felt called to face death head on. Her new book explores her travels around the world and in the US exploring mortality and death cultures, from Egypt’s Valley of the Kings to Mayan temples to a Colorado cremation pyre and Dead of the Dead celebrations. Learn how one of the most life-affirming things we can do is to invite death along for the ride.

Ira Byock calls it, “Open-hearted and soulful, never morbid, and often uplifting, Near the Exit is a colorful travelogue of mortality.”

***Lunch will be available for purchase from Farm to Fork café & Lori’s book Near the Exit will be available for purchase from Westminster John Knox Press.
